The panel voted to grant Serenity House Incorporated $30,000 from the county opioid settlement fund to support operations, resident assistance and facility improvements across three transitional recovery homes in Warsaw. The presenter said the request would be split roughly as $10,000 per home to help with household supplies, repairs and resident support services.
“Serenity House Incorporated respectfully requests $30,000 from the Kosciusko County opioid settlement fund to sustain and strengthen operations across all 3 recovery homes during the 2027 project year,” the presenter said. She described daily life in the homes as structured and peer-supported and offered documentation and receipts to the panel for accountability. The presenter also noted the organization’s longevity: “Our main place, we're going on 34 years.”
A committee member moved to award the $30,000 request from restricted funds; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote. Panel discussion covered whether to pay from restricted or regular funds and asked for accountability documentation from the grantee.
