Director Reddy told trustees the communications committee had prepared a flyer and web material to explain the permanent school fund question on the Nov. ballot, and that the materials would emphasize that the proposal is not a tax increase. The flyer is already on the district website under elections (flaschools.org/elections), and the committee plans district email newsletters and social posts to raise awareness.
Reddy and other board members emphasized two messaging points: highlight that the amendment is structured as 'no tax increase' for homeowners, and remind voters that leaving the question blank counts as a no vote. "It's a quirk of a constitutional amendment that you have to vote one way or the other where it counts as a no," Reddy said. Trustees suggested a brief video from the superintendent to explain the amendment in accessible terms; staff agreed to prepare multiple outreach formats and to return with more materials.
The communications work was presented as an education and outreach effort rather than advocacy; staff said they will aim to make factual materials available during early voting.
