The Chair opened the meeting and introduced a YMCA update, and Parks department staff reported that "The YMCA ended the summer aquatic season at the Kroger Aquatic Center and Splashpad on Monday, September 7." Parks staff said total visits rose to 38,411 this year, up from about 34,565 the prior season, which staff characterized as an 11.1% increase. Parks staff noted most of the increase came from members rather than transient drop-in use.
Parks department staff said member scans rose sharply: "member scans went from 17.6 percent of total visits in 2025 to 24.6 percent in 2026," which staff said accounted for roughly 88% of the additional visits. Staff said the aquatic center and splash pad will be winterized by mid-October, and reminded the board of upcoming community events: a trunk-or-treat at the YMCA on Sunday, Oct. 25 (6–8 p.m.) and a veterans recognition luncheon on Thursday, Nov. 12 (11 a.m.–1 p.m.).
