Montgomery honors youth sports champions and retiring longtime staff

At the opening of its Sept. 17 meeting, the Montgomery Township Committee presented multiple proclamations celebrating local youth sports achievements and several employee retirements. Mayor Mir Singh read proclamations commemorating the Montgomery Baseball League's 2026 season, naming players and coaches from championship teams, and recognized the Cougar Gold Rec 12/14U softball team for capturing the Inter Town Tournament of Champions.

The committee also honored long‑serving staff. A proclamation thanked Sherry Crews for nearly 38 years of municipal service and listed her roles aiding the planning department, planning board, zoning board of adjustment and other commissions; colleagues praised her institutional knowledge and personal support. Michael Karpaski was recognized for 27 years in construction and code enforcement, noting his promotion to construction official and a 2024 inspector award. Officials encouraged community applause and thanked the honorees for their service.
