The Apache Junction Unified School District Governing Board voted unanimously Sept. 17 to extend its dual-enrollment agreement with Central Arizona College through June 30, 2027. The extension maintains courses delivered on AJHS campus and preserves stipend arrangements for district instructors who teach CAC courses.
Superintendent Dr. Popalardo summarized participation and program logistics during the board discussion, saying, “We have 15 students in English for CAC. We have 25 students in the youth A3U program for world history and biology and biology with ASU for dual credit as well.” He told the board the extension is for one calendar year and reiterated that in-district delivery is the default when a qualified instructor is available and that CAC provides stipends for campus teachers.
Board members asked clarifying questions about where courses are taught and whether students travel to CAC; the superintendent confirmed most current sections are taught on campus. A motion to approve the amendment was made, seconded and passed 5-0.
