As part of board action, superintendent doctor Clarity presented two proposed indicators under OE 10.2 to align district monitoring with Wisconsin Act 42 on wireless communication devices. The first indicator requires that "the district maintains an administrative rule governing student use of wireless communication devices that are reviewed for compliance with Wisconsin law and communicated annually to students and families," doctor Clarity said. The second indicator calls for an annual summary to the board on implementation and potential recommended revisions.
Board members discussed reasonableness and monitoring expectations and then moved the indicators for a vote; the motion passed by voice vote. Separately, administration proposed technical revisions to OE 10 to remove a climate-survey question no longer used and to eliminate product-specific references (PowerSchool) in favor of system-neutral language; those revisions were also approved by the board. Staff noted they will file required policy documentation with the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction by the September 1 deadline.
