Finance staff reminded the council that the budget second reading will be on Monday and previewed an ordinance in the packet that supplements the rec center and police department budgets to implement previously approved camera programs. The ordinance was described as zero-net because it moves budget authority from the streets department to fund the camera programs rather than add net spending.
"If you guys have any questions on the budget, the 2nd reading will be on Monday. All the information is in the packet," said Michelle, who also described the ordinance supplement: "That is an ordinance to supplement, the rec center and police department budgets for the camera programs that you guys previously approved. That's actually a 0 increase to the budget because we're removing some budget authority from the streets department that is not needed there this year to fund that." The packet also includes the $200,000 library supplement Amber discussed.
