City of Bell staff told commissioners the department is hiring partners to run a multi‑sport sampler and other youth programming to free up staff time and expand choices for children. Alvin Tomala said the city is bringing in partners such as Best Sports and CNG Studios to deliver volleyball, flag football, tumbling and other niche classes.
"We're actually developing that right now as I mentioned with Best Sports," Tomala said, describing the contractor's role in taking on multi‑sport programming. Interim Director Gina Skibar gave registration details: "Pee Wee soccer, the sign ups are starting September 23," and staff said the sampler programs will be six weeks, "it starts October 31 and goes to December 12." Staff also said demo days and outreach will be scheduled to encourage participation.
Commissioners asked about ages and target groups; staff provided age ranges for sampler and Pee Wee programs and said participation will determine whether leagues form (for example, a youth flag‑football league may be started if community interest supports it).
