The Comal County Commissioners Court on Sept. 17 ratified a property tax revenue increase implicated by the adopted FY2027 budget and approved Order No. 573 setting the 2026 tax rate at 0.305015 per $100 of valuation.
Commissioner Webb moved to ratify the property tax revenue increase shown in the adopted budget; the motion was seconded and carried. The court noted that because the adopted rate exceeds the no-new-revenue rate by 0.005 cents the action required public notice and statutory publication, which the county said it had completed in local paper and on the county website.
The court then approved Order No. 573 establishing the tax-rate breakdown at 0.227976 for general-fund maintenance and operations, 0.045024 for debt service, and 0.032015 for road-and-bridge maintenance and operations, for a combined rate of 0.305015. Commissioners voted by voice; the motion carried.
Officials emphasized that state-mandated exemptions affect the revenue worksheet and that the small per-dollar difference between the no-new-revenue rate and the adopted rate reflected those statutory changes, not an unanchored increase in spending priorities.
