The Comal County Commissioners Court on Sept. 17 approved proclamations recognizing National Preparedness Month (September 2026) and Constitution Week (Sept. 17-23, 2026).
The county read a proclamation underscoring local hazards and encouraging residents to sign up for the Regional Emergency Alert Network and the state Emergency Assistance Registry. A local emergency-management representative thanked first responders and urged residents to use posted QR codes to access preparedness information.
For Constitution Week, Kathy Zamora, regent of the Captain James Jack chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, accepted the proclamation and thanked the court for the recognition. Chris Byrd described a multi-year program that brings judges, law-enforcement and elected officials to campuses to educate students; he said the program will reach thousands of students across several counties during the 250th anniversary year.
Both proclamations were approved by motion and accepted by community representatives who spoke during the meeting.
