Gage County to host joint public hearing for taxing agencies Sept. 23

County staff announced that a joint public hearing will be held Sept. 23 at 6:00 p.m. upstairs in the district courtroom. The Chair said the county will host the event as required by state law and that several taxing agencies — including the City of Beatrice, City of Wymore and Norris Public Schools — have been listed as participants. Staff and board members noted the hearing cards list 'Gage County' at the top, which may cause confusion for members of the public seeking individual taxing agencies.

The board said it will provide the public the opportunity to question their taxing agencies about proposed increases at that joint hearing. No action was taken beyond scheduling and public notification at the Sept. 16 meeting.
