The Town of Greenfield Planning Board voted unanimously on Sept. 6, 2026 to approve applicant Timothy Foley’s Business Permit Occupancy Application to operate a retail business selling firearms, ammunition, hunting gear and other household items. The motion, made by Iris Waitt and seconded by Jim Fletcher, passed 5-0-0 during a site walk that began at 10:08 a.m.
Foley described the proposed layout to the board, saying he will use rear space to store inventory and provide a rear entrance for local customers. Board members set a follow-up: Foley will meet with Jim Fletcher at town hall on Sept. 9, 2026 at 5 p.m. to sign the application and pay the noticing fee required for the site walk. The board also recommended that Foley contact the town’s Building and Code Enforcement Officer regarding any potential building restrictions before beginning operations.
The approval authorizes submission of the occupancy paperwork but does not itself authorize any building alterations or a business opening date; Foley was advised to complete any necessary building-code reviews and permits before beginning retail operations. The site walk concluded with a motion to adjourn at 10:46 a.m., which passed 5-0-0.
