Britney announced that "Girls on the Field" is confirmed for Oct. 17 at the Tacoma Soccer Center and outlined plans to recruit 60–100 girls ages 10–18 via partners (Boys & Girls Clubs, YMCAs, Girl Scouts) and asked commissioners to help with volunteers and logistics.
Britney said organizers hope state agency volunteers can help because they often already hold needed background checks. Commissioners volunteered to recruit and asked whether volunteers who had recent background checks through other employers would need to re-run checks; staff said previously run background checks that returned clear should be acceptable.
The commission’s staff also reminded commissioners about upcoming deadlines: registration on the 30th of the month and youth advisory council recruitment through Oct. 25. Staff said application materials and email templates were distributed to commissioners.
