The board discussed a Sawyer County resolution that asks the state to provide general-purpose revenue to cover the non-federal share of Community Support Program (CSP) and crisis services. Staff said the issue aligns with ongoing lobbying conducted by the Wisconsin County Human Services Association and the Wisconsin Counties Association; some supervisors questioned whether a local resolution would add value while others argued a generic county resolution could bolster advocacy.
A motion to place the Sawyer County resolution on file failed. The board then voted to direct staff to draft a generic county resolution addressing the request so Walworth County can act in coordination with statewide lobbying if a legislative opportunity arises. Several members noted that a targeted campaign coordinated through WCA would be most effective once specific legislation or a bill moving through the legislature is identified.
