The Herndon Architectural Review Board on Sept. 16 voted unanimously to continue the public hearing for ARB-26-008, a proposal to add rooftop units and telecommunications appurtenances at 12801 Rolegate Drive, to Oct. 21, 2026.
Chair Belaker Glass opened the public hearing and asked lead planner Ms. Jones to present staff findings. Ms. Jones said the submission proposed rooftop telecommunications equipment and that, in staff's review of the first submission, "the modification is highly visible from the right of way" and that the proposed equipment and screening in the initial design appeared "incongruous with the building, and its overall roof line." She told the board the applicant had requested a continuance on Sept. 4 to the October meeting cycle and had prepared a second submission responding to staff comments.
After the staff update and with no public commenters present, Ms. Feske moved to continue the public hearing to Oct. 21, 2026; the motion was seconded and approved by roll call. The clerk recorded ayes from Board Member Choudhry; Board Member Olenek; Vice Chair Fetzke; and Chair Belaker Glass.
What happens next: the public hearing will remain open and the applicant is expected to present a revised submission and participate in a work session with the board during the October meeting cycle.
